Checkered bowl - hand painted - small

Handmade, hand-painted Checkered bowl, made in Ōtautahi, Christchurch.

One of the three smaller bowls in this set — the Small Wavey, Small Checkered & Small Scalloped — perfect for cereal, snacks, sides, or whatever else deserves a very good bowl.

There are also two medium-sized options in the set — Slightly bigger, slightly more generous, and very nice to hold.

Each bowl is made from a toasty, warm, speckled New Zealand clay and finished with a hand-painted red wine-coloured pattern. The clay has a lovely earthy, slightly gritty feel in the hand, while the glazed areas are smooth and cool to the touch. The weight has that satisfying proper bowl feeling — substantial without being clunky.

And because these are handmade, they are imperfect on purpose. You might find a wobble in the rim, a variation in the shape, an uneven curve or a brushstroke that isn't quite identical to the next one. They are not Briscoes bowls. Thank god. They have fingerprints, quirks and personality — each one is genuinely one of a kind.

Food safe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe — although we recommend hand washing, because ceramics are... well, ceramics. Treat her nicely and she'll stick around.
